Earlier this year Jassa submitted Mixed - a spec TV pilot script - to the BBC Writersroom. His writing fought off competition from 3845 other drama entries and was longlisted, placing it in the top 3.5% of all submissions.
Inspired by Jassa's own experiences, Mixed tells the story of a young man of Anglo-Indian heritage, grappling with his identity and relationships.
"A compelling read with a unique and interesting central character at its core. The simplicity with which the story is told makes for an authentic story world that feels both immersive and believable. An enjoyable and thought provoking read." - BBC Writersroom Script Report
Jassa is continuing to develop the project alongside his other behind-the-camera work. He most recently completed short film Heart's Ease - his debut as a writer-director - which is currently being submitted to film festivals worldwide.
Extremely proud to count myself among the 137. My submission was the most personal thing I've written to date. Brings me immense joy to know it connected with someone and has the potential to grow. Huge thank you @bbcwritersroom. And @zakbentley, for telling me about it. Onwards! https://t.co/BNyuRYAoUC
