On Monday 4th April, Jassa’s documentary Am I English? aired on BBC One and on BBC iPlayer.
The half hour film, part of the BBC’s We Are England series, explores Jassa’s sense of national identity in the context of his mixed British-Indian heritage, his origins in the Midlands, and his #BothNotHalf movement.
Directed by Alex Gower-Jackson, the documentary features interviews with Jassa’s parents, his sister Ramanique Ahluwalia, and journalist, author and fellow midlander Sathnam Sanghera.
“I talk about having mixed heritage because I think we all have mixed heritage, and I think that’s something that, as a nation, we need to really engage with when it comes to our national identity - we are a mixed heritage nation”
- Jassa, speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live
