GreanTea Productions is proud to announce the cast for its debut film production Heart’s Ease, written and directed by Jassa Ahluwalia.
Scott Chambers (Chicken, The Hippopotamus) and Ramanique Ahluwalia (Private Sales, The Unholy War) lead the cast as teenage lovers with a dark secret, in a story exploring the social context of relationships and the nature of taboo.
Shot over three days in London earlier this month, the short film also features award-winning actress Hayley Carmichael (The Witness for the Prosecution, Call the Midwife).
Scott, Ramanique and Hayley are joined by an impressive ensemble of emerging talent: Ella-Rae Smith (Clique), Matthew Marrs (Howard's End), Fred Fergus (Wonder Woman), Ria Lopez (The Girl with All The Gifts), Alexander Morris (Poldark) and Phoebe Campbell (The Last Dragonslayer).
Eloise Joseph (Skins, The Inbetweeners Movie), Kezia Burrows (Crash, Apple Tree Yard) and Elan James (War Horse) also appear, as does Tom Dann, in his debut role.
Heart's Ease is the directorial debut for Jassa.
Jassa says:
“I’ve been blown away by the wealth of talent we've managed to bring together for Heart’s Ease. Not only do we have a foundation of phenomenal, established actors, the film is brimming with stars of tomorrow. I'm indebted to our casting director Nicola Chisholm for helping us to assemble such an impressive cast and I cannot wait for them, and the public, to see their work on the big screen when Heart’s Ease hits the film festival circuit later this year.”
Scott Chambers says:
"When I read the script it completely grabbed me. The passion you have as a teenager, the puppy dog love you feel for someone that's so deep and so raw, but then just as you feel like you know what the story is it takes you into totally new and unexpected territory. The film to me is an important study of a young relationship and I think a lot of people will be thrown by how real and honest the film gets."
Ramanique Ahluwalia says:
"I knew after reading the script that Heart's Ease was the kind of challenging and provocative work that I wanted to be a part of. It made me question myself and my judgements and forced me to reevaluate. I was so excited when I found out Jassa wanted me to play Anna. It’s a scary story to tell, but it is important and I feel very lucky to have been involved."
Heart's Ease is set for release later in 2017.
